I will keep this one short because a) its embarrassing b) I cant be arsed.

Basically Lammack turned up with ten men. They are Lancashire Champions and all ex academy players but we fancied our chances all the same. Five minutes in and we are one up with a well taken Liam Macdonald goal following a great pass from Ben Cox. All boded well until Lammack scored early in the second half. We exerted quite a bit of pressure but could not get passed a resolute Lammack defence and the score ended 1-1.

Because we hadn’t played Lammack all season and neither us and Lammack could be bothered to play another game at theirs we decided to play a second game on the other pitch twenty minutes later. However in that twenty minute period Lammack lost two players, one with a suspected broken foot and the other unable to walk. We on the other hand lost four to the bar. We did eventually get under way with the missing four returning. So it was our eleven to Lammacks eight.

Now I’m not a betting man but I would wager Mrs H’s housekeeping (£23.75) on a victory for Thornton. Guess what? Lammack scored first and then proceeded to put the seven outfield players behind the ball. We told the lads to move the ball quickly with playing wingers out wide and stretching the play, openings will happen and we will score a bucketful. However, there must have been some communication error as they had misinterpreted our instructions and just lumped the ball up to Lammacks giant defenders.

We did get one goal back when Liam bundled the ball home. Lammack took all the plaudits for a perfect performance with eight men. We on the other hand looked decidedly embarrassed. Suffice to say Bob was not happy Myself I was coolness personified and it was a pure accident that a plastic drinks bottle (full) winged its way towards Joe’s head but he ducked and it hit an already injured Liam Macdonald on the thigh leaving a horrendous bruise. Luckily those Child Protection Police were not around.

Man of the match – Sam Johnson, a bloody good player in my books.

Next up league leaders Brigg, great.
