T.C.F.C U15s v AFC Blackpool U15s in the Blackpool & District League22 April 2010 , Kick Off : 18:30 Score 3 - 0
A competent performance to secure a 3-0 victory, all the goals coming in the 1st half. With 4 games in 8 days and a final game a week today, the starting line up was changed quite a bit from Tuesday but still looked as strong on paper and proved to be on grass as well. Thornton were one up inside 4 minutes through a powerful Matty Currie header from an Alex Foster corner, which Smudge is still trying to claim. Five minutes later it was 2-0 when Loz Maddox crossed to Connor Addision on the edge of the box who drove home from 18 yards. AFC then settled down and like Lytham on Tuesday were quite quick on the break, skimming the bar with a cross shot midway through the half. The 3rd goal was scored on 35 minutes a flick on from a throw in putting Danny Hadgraft through and again like Tuesday he beat the keeper to the ball, lobbing over him into the net. Matty Currie could have had a 2nd when another powerful header struck Tom Smith on the goal line and Matty also had the ball in the net but was adjudged to have handballed it.
In the 2nd half changes were made which disrupted the flow though we never lost control of the game. A number of half chances were put wide with the AFC keeper making a couple of excellent saves when called into action.
A good all round squad performance with the 2 Dannys, Ellwood and Walsh getting good run outs. Alex Foster was immense in midfield and his corners and free kicks were excellent, giving him the man of the match award.
