Foxhall U16s v T.C.F.C U16s in the Hogan Cup11 April 2010 , Kick Off : 12:00 Score 2 - 1
AT LAST today sees TCFC play their semi final against Foxhall at Stanley Park,The Oval, which was meant to be played on the 28th March but was postponed due to under 16's having a rep game. TCFC went into the game on a great run only losing 1 game since early October and fancied their chances against supposibily the best side in the league Foxhall who had been hammered a few weeks ago in their Lancashire Cup final 3-0 which showed they were beatable. With a 11.45 kick off TCFC prepared well and in good time for there biggest game of the season and a massive chance of progressing to the final at Bloomfield Road and were at full strength not like Foxhall who apparently had several players missing!!. The game finally got underway at 12.30 due to the game before going to extra time and it was Foxhall who started the brightest with most of the possession and early chances and after 5 mins they took the lead after a mistake at the back from a long ball which wasn`t dealt with, which fell to the Foxhall striker who showed great feet and finished well 1-0. The next 15 mins was a even contest with both teams having half chances but it was Foxhall who got the killer 2nd goal after another mistake at the back (identical to the 1st) which again the player showed good composure and finish to make it 2-0. As the half wore on Foxhall had chances to put TCFC to bed but yet again this season couldnt find a way past Andy who made some superb saves to keep TCFC in the game, half time 2-0. At half time the instructions were clear to the players - go out and get the next goal and see how the opposition would react. Just after half time TCFC made their 1st change with Eric replacing injured Lewis and 5 mins later Scott replacing Mitch after coming down with cramp from an earlier earlier injury picked up mid week against Blackpool Acedamy. Soon after the changes paid dividened when Eric gambled on a terrible back pass which the Foxhall keeper couldn`t deal with to scramble home and get TCFC back in the game. After the goal and as predicted Foxhall started to panic and failed to cope with TCFC's pressure and resulted in listening to their 3 Managers on the sidelines with shouts of kick the ball away onto the running track everytime there was a foul, freekick given or throw in to either side and then use their 2nd instruction in which was to time waste with about 20 mins to go (strange to me when you are apparently the best side in the league). In the last 15 mins TCFC pushed and pushed for the equiliser but give credit to Foxhall they defended well and had chances to finish the game on the break but again couldn`t find a way past Andy (best keeper in the league) and with minutes to go the referee finally saw sense and finally sent a player off for time wasting and feel sorry for the lad who now has to watch from the stands. Full time 2-1. Overall a great effort from TCFC in the 2nd half and were unlucky to not force extra time but we were beaten by the best football team in the league without a shadow of a doubt, but have no respect for there management staff who had 3 members on the sidelines when the rules, yes the LEAGUE rules, state in black and white you can`t. Well done lads lets finish the season on a high and keep your heads up. T.C.F.C Goal Scorers
