Wyre Juniors U15s v T.C.F.C U15s in the Blackpool & District League30 March 2010 , Kick Off : 18:00 Score 1 - 0
'Mugged again' - Not my words but that of the Wyre Manager. He's wrong of course, Sunday was of course the mugging but tonight was sheer incompetance as manager Steve Coulburn's technical adviser pointed out. No doubt Wyre were anticipating some sort of backlash but having watched us squander chance after chance Wyre worked a lot harder than Sunday particularly in the second half to easily earn the point they looked as though they were getting before again scoring late against us to take all three. In doing do Wyre became only the third team this season to beat us after YMCA, potential league and cup double winners and Aston, Lancashire Cup finalists. I find it difficult to describe either of the games other than in both games we had the lions share of possession (though less so tonight) and goal attempts that ran into double figures, the majority off target, but those that were on target were kept out by a very good keeper. As another manager said in one of his match reports recently - sometimes you have to win ugly, but we haven't learned how to yet. We can play good football with the best of them, be physical when we have to, up the pace or slow the game down but when we're not playing particularly well as we haven't in our last two games we struggle to get back to basics, electing instead to overplay it and try and score the perfect goal. The 10 day break ahead of us has probably come at the right time. After the intensity of the last 3 months we are probably due a rest so we can recharge our batteries for the final push for 2nd place which is still achievable. No man of the match on Sunday but tonight Cain Hutchinson kept plugging away in his own inimitable steady manner and was duly awarded the man of the match T.C.F.C Goal Scorers |
