Thornton Cleveleys Football Club
AGM Minutes – Monday 30th October 2006-11-01
Chairing the meeting and minutes – Andy Khambay
Andy Khambay opened the meeting by welcoming everyone who had attended and advised the meeting of the agenda set out before them.
AK Introduced Steve Abbott – Chairman
Mark Bowley – Vice Chairman
Margaret Beaumont and Jonathon Cropper – Treasurer (elect)
AK Advised the meeting that there is a motion from the floor stating any vote taken at tonight’s AGM or at any future AGM that new members could not join on the day of the AGM and vote on any issue.
The motion was passed that members of one year standing would be allowed to vote. No objections were raised.
SA Welcomed everyone to the meeting. Thanked members on the Executive who were standing down – Margaret Beaumont, Carron Chettoe, Caron Betts. He also thanked Ray Smith and Martin England for their hard effort made in the club, both inside and out. Thanks went to Jo Walmsley for VAT PAYE for those employed at the club.
SA Was disappointed like many others at the end of last season that the first team narrowly failed to get promotion. Hopefully this season would see them promoted. Also advised the meeting that we have had an inspection by the West Lancs League and they rated our ground and facilities 98% - the highest mark ever achieved by any club.
The meeting was advised that Kim England is now running the kitchen and it is proving to be a big success.
Talking of success, the club has had a good year with two successful tournaments and the Sportsman’s Dinner meaning the club has no debts. A financial programme was put in place to make us achieve our targets. The money raised will be put to members as on how to spend it. We are looking for suggestions.
SA On the NPL front – we don’t know where we are going to be, but wherever we go the club is in a strong position to negotiate the best deal.
SA The only downside this year has been some problems and issues in girl’s football, and the committee have been as guilty as everyone. Changes are going to be made for next season with consultation with the girls section.
SA There is only one team on tour this season and we would ask everyone to support them in their efforts to raise funds. The Gazette is running “Cash for Kidz” and the team are collecting the tokens. Please support them by collecting tokens and passing them on to Bob McDonald.
MB Advised the meeting that whilst SA “did the business side” of the club, he did the football side.
MB Advised the meeting that our Charter status was up for renewal and he has got a meeting with Lancs FA in November. One of the problems we have is pitch allocation and we also need a link with a professional football club as part of the Charter. Speaking to Wren Rovers about linking girl’s football at open age.
MB The club is looking for a grant co-ordinator for outside funding to help the club move forward, ie floodlighting, all weather training facilities, etc.
MB Communication is a very important factor for a club of this size. With the people who are coming on to the committee at this time you will see more of them in the club – use this to pass on any concerns, suggestions, etc. you may have.
Margaret Beaumont advised the meeting that accounts have been far better than last year. A strong improvement as more bookings for the club, the two tournaments and the sportsman’s dinner turning round a loss to a profit.
AK Members elected to the Executive Committee (see the web site for details)
Flowers were given to the two social committee ladies who were stepping down and to Jo Walmsley.
Gary Dickinson asked who the clubperson of the year was. The Committee put it to the meeting and RAY SMITH was voted.
Andy Khambay announced the meeting closed.
